The Bianconeri will now finish off their Group Stage fixtures in Germany against Bayer Leverkusen

Juventus claimed first place in Group D after claiming a 1-0 home win against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday evening in the Champions League. Paulo Dybala scored the only goal of the game, as the Bianconeri ensured that they reached their objective with one game to spare.

ALL SQUARE
The Bianconeri started off with some good attacking play in the opening 10 minutes of the game, with Dybala forcing Oblak into making a save with an angled after a quick give and go with Ramsey. Szczesny was first called into action in the 24th minute of the game when he quickly dropped down to smother Saul’s daisy-cutter.

DYBALA FROM AN IMPOSSIBLE ANGLE
The build-up play was patient by the home side, with Dybala truly showing flashes of brilliance and beauty. The Argentine won a free-kick on the left flank in the 34th minute; Ronaldo played the set-piece short to Pjanic, who then fired it low and wide of goal. Bentancur won a free-kick where the box meets the byline inside stoppage time and this time it was Dybala who stood over to take it. He struck an unstoppable effort from the tightest of angles to send the Bianconeri into the break at half-time.

DECISIVE DE LIGT
Saul had the first chance of the second half fall to his feet whist standing just inside the box. He struck away a powerful effort on the half-volley that was brilliantly dealt with by Tek. Diego Simeone introduced Joao Felix up front in hope of causing trouble to the Bianconeri’s defensively strong backline. It was still Juventus who were commanding play and great opportunity fell to them in the 60th minute. Ronaldo found himself breaking through the offside trap in the center-circle, he ran up towards goal, feigned past two markers before unleashing an effort at goal that flew high and wide of the target. Bernardeschi came painstakingly close to doubling the lead six minutes later when he cut in from the flank and unleashed an effort that struck the upright. Higuain was then put on in place of Dybala in the 74th minute, who exited the field to a standing ovation. Atletico came so close to pulling back an equalizer when Correa was clean on goal following a Felix through-ball, but de Ligt came charging in to steal the ball away from his feet. The Bianconeri finished off the match with all three points and secured top spot in the Group D standings with one game to spare.
