VERONA – Lautaro Martinez was back among the goals after a month thanks to his wonderful strike against Hellas Verona. His opener helped send the Nerazzurri on their way to a 2-1 win at the Bentegodi. It was the seventh consecutive league win for Inter, with El Toro looking back on the match following the whistle. “Today’s win was an important result, we played a match worthy of a great team. It was a difficult and tough game, we’re happy because we didn’t give up at all. In the first half, we did well but weren’t able to score. In the second half, we were more clinical and, thanks to our determination as a team, we were able to secure the three points.

“I’m here to win something with this Club. We work every day to show that we can stay at the front, but there are tough matches and we always need to give more. Today, we did well and got the win. My relationship with Lukaku? He’s a good guy, since his first day here we’ve always spoke and got on.”

Lautaro hadn’t previously scored since the Torino match: “For a striker, scoring goals is key and we live to score. To break the deadlock meant that this goal was even more important, but I’m happy when Inter win and I want to help the team. I dedicate the goal to my family, who have joined me for the holidays. I wish all the fans and all of the staff all the best during the holiday season.”
