The Partenopei are celebrating the event today with a party at Stadio San Paolo, and though El Diego was unable to be there, he sent his regards in a Facebook post.
“Happy birthday Napoli!” Maradona wrote.
“I want to send my best wishes to all Neapolitans. A club is nothing without its people, its fans. I’m proud to have played there for seven years, and I remember them with great affection.
“Here’s to another 90 years which will be full of victories, because we don’t want to be second or third, we want first place.
“See you soon, a hug to you all, Diego.”
