Monaco vs Metz Preview
Ligue 1 leaders Monaco are in scintillating form ahead of this game on Saturday and are red-hot favourites to take the 3 points at Stade Louis II. They are only in front of current champions PSG by 3 points however and Unai Emery’s team could be level on points by the time this match is played if they win on Friday evening. Monaco however have looked confident all season long and certainly have the players to go all the way and lift the trophy come May.
The reverse fixture in October saw Monaco hammer Metz 7-0 so there will certainly be a degree of caution exercised by the visitors for this one. They may well shut up shop to try and avoid embarrassment. Monaco though could use this as a chance to rest key players such as top scorer Falcao as the Champions League round of 16 ties approach later this month. Falcao has been back to his ruthless best in 2016/17 and already has 14 league goals to his name. He has also been supported well by fellow attacking prospect Valere Germain who has managed 8 strikes during this season.
Metz meanwhile are not entirely out of the relegation picture yet as the final third of the season approaches. They are just 3 points off 18th placed Angers, although winning 3 out of their last 4 games has given them some breathing space from the drop zone. Defensively they have been suspect throughout the campaign, letting in a total of 39 goals from their 23 matches so expect the home side to find plenty of chances here.
We expect Monaco to keep a clean sheet in this one and that is valued at 11/10 with bookmaker bet365.
