Seven clubs including Torino, Sampdoria and Bologna have declared their opposition to the Serie A season resuming.
Parma, SPAL, Brescia and Udinese are the other clubs that are against the idea of the 2019-20 campaign being fulfilled, reports Adnkronos.
As per the agency, the seven sides are unwilling to play on due to ‘the presence of an incalculable risk’ in COVID-19.
Fiorentina were also mentioned by Adnkronos, but they have since denied taking such a stance.
However, Lega Serie A put out a statement shortly after, maintaining it plans to see out the season.
“The Lega Serie A Council, meeting today, unanimously confirmed its intention to complete the 2019-2020 season, if the government allows it to be carried out, in full compliance with the rules for the protection of health and safety,” it read.
“The resumption of sporting activity, as part of the so-called Phase Two, will take place in accordance with regulations laid out by FIFA and UEFA, the decisions of the FIGC and in compliance with the medical protocols for the protection of footballers and all working professionals.”
Serie A will hold an assembly meeting on Tuesday, where resumption of 19-20 will come up for debate.
