The captain has drawn level with Casillas as the player to have racked up the most wins in a Spain shirt (121).

Sergio Ramos featured in both of Spain’s outings during the latest international break, during which he moved level with Iker Casillas as the player to have recorded the most wins in a Spain shirt. With 121 wins to his name he has equalled Casillas’s tally and lies above Xavi (100) and Iniesta (96).

The captain chalked up his first win in his debut, which came 14 years ago, on 26 March 2005 in a 3-0 success over China. The victories he has claimed have seen Ramos achieve an amazing trophy haul, which features a World Cup crown and two European Championships, with the national team. What’s more, he has reproduced the goalscoring exploits that he has displayed in Real Madrid colours for the national team. He currently has 18 goals to his name, five of which have come this term. As far the number of caps he has won, Ramos is the country’s second-most capped international (163 appearances), with Casillas (167) the only player ahead of him in these stakes.
