Robert Lewandowski was named Polish Sports Personality of the Year on Saturday evening. The Bayern goal-getter beat off competition from hammer thrower Anita Włodarczyk and motorcyclist Bartosz Zmarzlik to claim the award in his home country, which is voted for by readers of Polish sports magazine Przegląd Sportowy.

“The award of Sports Personality of the Year means a lot to me because the choice is made by you – the fans,” commented Lewandowski on his Instagram channel. It’s the third time in his career that the 33-year-old has claimed the prize, following 2015 and last year.
