It is reported that Roma are lining up a move for Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho, following Mario Rui’s injury.

The Giallorossi’s Portuguese defender, who is yet to make his competitive debut for the club, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury on Friday and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Coach Luciano Spalletti is desperate to find a replacement before his club’s Champions League play-off tie next month.

He is said to have turned his attentions to Frenchman Sakho, who was recently sent home from Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States by manager Jurgen Klopp, following reported disciplinary issues.

The Italian daily believes Roma will attempt to sign the former Paris Saint-Germain man on loan. Though Sakho had been considered an important part of Klopp’s plans at Anfield, the Stadio Olimpico club believe the circumstances have changed.
