The centre-back’s agent declared last week that he will not renew his contract under the current terms.

He earns €1.3m per year plus bonuses, but is asking for €3m.

There are reports the Giallorossi asked Arsenal and Chelsea for €45m (£38m) if they want to sign him.

Manolas irritated teammate Kevin Strootman and fans yesterday in training when he slumped to the ground in a game between ranks.

Strootman hurried him along and urged him to either get treatment or continue with the match.

This morning Manolas did not take part in the training session, officially due to lumbago.

President Pallotta told Il Tempo newspaper that there was no problem.

“Why should Manolas want to leave? We’ve brought in Juan Jesus and Nacho, two experienced defenders who will give us a big hand.

“The team is working hard and will be ready for the Champions League play-off.”
