Six Bayern players featured for Germany on Thursday evening as they claimed a comfortable 2-0 win over Liechtenstein in World Cup qualifying. FCB winger Leroy Sane got the second in Hansi Flick’s first match as Germany coach. Die Mannschaft are second in Group J on nine points from four games, one behind Armenia.

“Of course, we wanted to score more goals. We found things tough. The opposition defended very, very deep,” said Joshua Kimmich after the game. “We didn’t manage to take our first chances at the start. At the end of the day, we’ll take the win but we could’ve scored more goals.”

Kimmich captained the side in the absence of Manuel Neuer and had the first big chance after only four minutes thanks to a good ball from Sane. Germany then struggled to break through for long periods. Jamal Musiala was making his full debut for the national team and finally created the opener in the 41st minute with a good run and ball for Timo Werner to finish.
