Slovenia escaped from a big upset on the opening matchday of the European Qualifiers after scoring a late goal to earn a draw at Lithuania. They struggled against a disciplined host for the majority of the game and were trailing 2-0 until the 77th minute before Rene Krhin reduced the deficit by 1 goal. A late goal from defender Bostjan Cesar in the 90th minute saved Slovenia from somewhat of an embarrassing defeat.

While Slovakia look to have tamed England in their group opener. But Adam Lallana strike in the injury time to give the Three Lions all three points. Slovakia were down to 10 men after Martin Skrtel was shown a red card in the 57th minute. However, England had plenty of chances to see off the game comfortably.

Slovenia vs Slovakia: Head-to-Head Statistics

The only competitive meeting between Slovenia and Slovakia was during the group stages of 2010 World Cup qualifier. Slovenia were victorious on both occasions with a 2-1 win at home and 2-0 away at Slovakia.

A third meeting happened between these two sides prior to the two legged clash on 2004, which finished in a 0-0 draw. So Slovenia will be coming into this match on a three match unbeaten run against Slovakia.

Slovenia vs Slovakia: Prediction

Slovakia are a much improved side since they faced Slovenia on October 2009. They had a good Euro 2016 before bowing out of the tournament to the mighty Germans. Slovenia on the other hand are an inexperienced side and are in a transition phase. So there is a good chance for Slovakia to end their poor run of results here. But it will be safe to back them on a double chance.
