Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Manchester United will be missing five players from the squad ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

The manager revealed at his pre-match press conference in Paris that both Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood, as well as United captain Harry Maguire, will miss our first group match of this season’s Champions League. Eric Bailly and Jesse Lingard will also be absent after staying behind in Manchester.

“Yeah we’ve lost a couple,”Ole told reporters via video.

“Bailly didn’t travel and Lingard didn’t travel. So we’re a little bit deflated but we have more than enough players.”

The United boss was asked about how long the players would be out for.

“We hope the players won’t be away too long,” he added.

“Edinson needs a few more days before he’s ready. Hopefully Harry, Eric and Mason, but we’re not too sure on that.”

Greenwood missed Saturday’s win at Newcastle and will not play at Parc des Princes on Tuesday, the stadium where he made his United debut in 2019. But Ole hopes to see him back in contention for our Premier League clash against Chelsea on Saturday at Old Trafford.

“It’s just a niggle and even though he’s young we can’t take a chance with him,” insisted Ole. “Hopefully he’ll be okay for the weekend.”
