Southampton vs Sunderland
English Premier League.
Date: Saturday, 27 August, 2016,
Kick-off: 15:00 UK.
Venue: St. Mary’s Stadium (Southampton).

Southampton will host David Moyes’ Sunderland at St Mary’s on Saturday, as both teams search for their first win this season.

Southampton lost 2-0 to the Red Devils last week, a superb Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Header gave United the lead. But before that, Saints new Boss wasn’t disappointed with his sides display as they had the better part of possession. Zlatan’s header turned things around, he went on to score from the spot to keep the Saints in one point after 2 games.

Saints have shown lack of fire power upfront, the departure of Graziano Pelle and Sadio mane have dealt them a blow. Southampton will need new arrivals in attack and hold on to captain Fonte if they must survive this season.

Black Cats fans were highly disappointed after their loss to Middlesbrough, this was the first loss against them since 2002. The New boys beat David Moyes’ side 2-1 at Stadium of Light to earn all 3 points. Christian Stuani’s Brace put Boro in front, later van Aanholt pulled one back, but it wasn’t enough for his side. New intake Adnan Januzaj had good influence in the game, but that also couldn’t prevent them from losing. David Moyes now needs to avoid a 3rd successive defeat in this new season.

Southampton vs Sunderland: Head to Head statistics

The Saints have had a greater portion of wins in their previous 42 games against Sunderland. Southampton have won 18 times whereas Sunderland have won 13 times. At home, the Saints have won 13 games and lost 4. There last 6 games have seen 2 draws and 2 wins each from the 2 sides.

Southampton vs Sunderland: Prediction

The two teams in this contest are looking for their first premier league win, thus this game will be a tough one. The home team have 1 point and 1 goal so far while the visitors have zero points and 2 goals having lost 2-1 successively. However the visitors claimed a 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town on Wednesday during League Cup.

The home team seem to lack fire power, but the visitors have a big problem in defence with 4 injured defenders. I predict a narrow win for the home team.
