The official result of the #UCLdraw!
Atlético de Madrid v Leicester City Football Club
Borussia Dortmund v AS MONACO
FC Bayern München v Real Madrid C.F.
Juventus v FC Barcelona

Dortmund and Monaco meet in UEFA competition for the first time.

All 22 of Madrid-Bayern’s competitive games have come in the European Cup, Madrid winning nine games and Bayern 11 with two draw; Madrid have scored 31 goals to Bayern’s 33.

The 2015 final was only the seventh competitive meeting between Barcelona and Juventus. Barcelona have won three, Juve two with two draws. The Spanish side have scored ten goals, conceding eight.

Ten years ago, Roy Makaay made UEFA Champions League history when the Bayern forward swept past Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas after just 10.12 seconds – still the fastest ever goal in this competition.

Juventus and Barcelona, of course, met in the 2015 UEFA Champions League final in Berlin, the Spanish side running out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Ivan Rakitić (4), Luis Suárez (68) and Neymar (90+7); Álvaro Morata (55) had brought Juventus level at 1-1.

Juventus’s draw with Barcelona means an emotional return to the Camp Nou for Dani Alves, who made 247 appearances for the Catalan giants in eight years before moving to Turin last summer. Asked who he wanted to face on Tuesday he said “anyone but Barcelona”.

Real Madrid and Bayern met in a pre-season friendly in New Jersey on 4 August, substitute Danilo scoring the only goal.

Madrid and Bayern have met in ten knockout ties, winning five apiece.

Madrid have won their last three games against Bayern, including in the 2013/14 semi-finals when the Spanish side, then coached by current Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti, won the second leg 4-0 in Munich – the German side’s record home defeat in Europe.

Monaco and Dortmund have never met in UEFA competition.

Atlético and Leicester have met in two previous ties – the Spanish side winning both ties, in the 1961/62 European Cup Winners’ Cup first round (1-1 away, 2-0 home) and the 1997/98 UEFA Cup first round (2-1 home, 2-1 away).

Previous European Cup quarter-final appearances:

33 Real Madrid
27 Bayern
18 Barcelona
16 Juventus
8 Atlético Madrid
7 Dortmund
4 Monaco
0 Leicester
