Good news from Säbener Straße. The injury situation at FC Bayern has improved significantly two days ahead of the Bundesliga home game against VfL Wolfsburg.
Niko Kovac was six players short for last Saturday’s 5-1 win at Borussia Mönchengladbach but the number of absentees has halved for the match against the Wolves.
The Bayern coach was able to welcome David Alaba back to the training ground on Thursday morning after his recovery from a tendon injury.
The Austrian is back in contention for a start at the weekend as are Leon Goretzka and Franck Ribéry who returned to training on Tuesday after missing the Gladbach game. They “are in good shape and ready for the difficult game against Wolfsburg,” revealed Kovac.
Robben, Coman and Tolisso miss Wolfsburg match
Three players are definitely ruled out for Saturday: Following his torn cruciate, Corentin Tolisso is “still in rehab and we expect him back at the end of the month,” explained Kovac. Arjen Robben “suffered a calf injury and he’s sidelined,” as is Kingsley Coman who is “on the up” according to Kovac.
“He’s back on his feet and in rehab,” said the 47-year-old coach and he is “confident he can be play a part in the Liverpool game.” Robben is definitely “ruled out” for Wednesday.
Mats Hummels, Thomas Müller and Jérôme Boateng suffered a setback this week when they were told by the Germany coach Joachim Löw that they would not be considered for selection for the national team in future.
Kovac believes this will have a positive effect on the their performances for FC Bayern: “I expect them to show a defiant response in the
