Timo Werner, the man who made the difference at West Ham with the winning goal on Saturday,

is targeting a scoring run to make up for lost time this season, but he has also come to appreciate his game should not only be about goals.

His strike at the end of the first half takes him onto a combined 20 goals and assists in what is his first Chelsea season, 11 of that total goals, and coming as it did 12 days after his previous one, he was understandably pleased, especially as it was worth the three points from an important match.

‘We were in a difficult situation at the beginning of the game because we had to win this game to come in the top four, otherwise it is very tight for us because we play against a lot of good teams for the rest of the season so there was a lot of pressure on us,’ admitted Werner.

‘With that, we played from the beginning with a lot of courage, with a lot of trust in ourselves and we played the ball up front and created a lot of chances and for me, the most impressive thing was that we didn’t concede a goal again.

‘We missed a chance a few days ago to put a little bit of a gap to West Ham but on Saturday we did it very well.
