The French defender joins the select list of Real Madrid players who have won both titles in the same season.

Varane caps off a successful season with a memorable double. After winning four titles with Real Madrid (European Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup, Club World Cup and European Cup), the defender was crowned world champion with his national team after France beat Croatia (4-2) in Moscow. Varane has been a key player for Deschamps’s team at the World Cup, where he started every match and played every minute. In addition to his efficiency in the defensive line, he scored an important goal to knock out Uruguay in the quarter-finals.

Varane enters the select list of Real Madrid players to have won the European and World Cup in the same season, an achievement that until now had only been achieved by Karembeu (1998), Roberto Carlos (2002) and Khedira (2014).

Spectacular record
At 25 years of age, the Real Madrid defender already has an enviable record. The World Cup is added to the 15 titles he has won with Real Madrid over seven seasons: 4 Champions Leagues, 3 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 2 Leagues, 1 Copa del Rey and 2 Spanish Super Cups.
