After winning their tourney opener over Venezuela last month, Paraguay seems to be going on a slide as it forced a goalless draw against powerhouse Argentina in its second game then lost their most recent outing versus Peru, 0-1, at the Estadio Nacional in Lima last Friday, as per Soccerway.
La Blanquirroja forward Jefferson Farfán scored the lone goal in the match at the 20th minute that gave Ramón Díaz’s men their first loss of the competitions.
Meanwhile, Bolivia scored a 4-2 upset victory over Venezuela in their own Matchday 3 affair held at the Estadio Hernando Siles in La Paz also last Friday, via the Latin Post.
Bolivia forward Rodrigo Ramallo had a brace at the 19th and 45th+1 to lead Julio Cesar Baldivieso’s boys while teammates Juan Carlos Arce and Rudy Cardozo provided a goal each at the 23rd and 49th in the high-scoring game.
Strikers Mario Rondón and Richard José Blanco put La Vinotinto on the board with one goal apiece at the 32nd and 55th minutes.
It was Bolivia’s first win of the tourney after suffering successive losses in their first two games against Uruguay and Ecuador.
Baldivieso and his crew are projected to ride high from their recent victory even when playing at the home stadium of Díaz’s side, who currently has low morale after their tough loss to Peru.
The predicted result is a 1-0 upset for Bolivia over Paraguay.
