Fixture: Las Palmas vs Atletico Madrid
Competition: Copa del Rey 2016-17
Date: Tuesday, 3rd January, 20:15 GMT
Stadium: Estadio de Gran Canaria (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).

Tomorrow night we start off a new Copa del Rey campaign against Universidad de Las Palmas.
The home team play in the Segunda División B Group I this season, the same league as Atleti B.
Before the return leg of the Copa del Rey, on 10 November, the Gran Canarians actually visit the Cerro del Espino to take on our second team, before playing our first team three days later.
The last time Atlético and Universidad de Las Palmas met in the Copa del Rey was in 2005, when Mateja Kezman scored the only goal in a 1-0 for Atleti. From that team, Luis Perea is the only player still active for Atlético.
We’re of course looking to have another succesful cup campaign in the search of our tenth Cup title. Last season we reached the final of the Copa del Rey, which we lost to Sevilla.
However, it seems Quique Sánchez Flores doesn’t take this match as seriously, because he has decided to rest some of our key players.
Diego Forlán, Paulo Assuncao and Simão have been left out of the match selection. The Brazilian and Portuguese will have the day off, but Forlán will do individual training work while the team travels to Las Palmas.
Atlético match selection:
Goalkeepers: De Gea, Joel
Defenders: López, Filipe, Godín, Ujfalusi, Luis Perea, Pulido
Midfielders: Mario, Tiago, Camacho, Raúl García, Fran Mérida, Reyes, Alberto Perea
Forwards: Agüero and Diego Costa.
As only five substitutions are allowed in Copa del Rey matches, one of these players will be left out.
We hope to see Pulido, Camacho, Fran and Alberto Perea in action, but Quique hasn’t given any hints with regard to the starting formation.
Copa del Rey games also count in the AtléticoFans Prediction League, so don’t forget to give your prediction!
