The big game of the weekend in Ligue 1 is saved for the last one as Marseille take on Lyon. However these two powerhouses of the 2000’s have got off to lacklustre starts this season. Marseille have won just 1 game and are in 14th place already six points behind leaders Monaco. They have only beaten Lorient this season which tells us nothing of the quality of this side who play with little confidence.
Lyon looked strong until they met Dijon and lost 4-2 and then followed that up with a 3-1 loss at home to Bordeaux. However Lyon is still the stronger side from these two but has suffered some injuries which have really disrupted the flow of the team. Away from home Lyon can’t be trusted yet with just a win over Nancy who is as bad as Lorient.

Lyon again has injuries most significantly to Alexandre Lacazette who just is fit not right now. They beat Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 in the Champions League where they played a strange formation of 3-5-1-1. This worked for them and Lyon is thinking outside of the box now.
Marseille then with no European football have had 3 extra days rest than Lyon, however Lyon come into this game in better spirits. We should see a very entertaining game with many goals because as Marseille Coach Franck Passi admitted his team lack stamina.
